Pronoun And Its Types
A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun.
Pronouns are words like: he, you, ours, themselves, some.
For Example:-
Raju is absent because Raju is ill.
Raju is absent because he is ill.
Types Of Pronoun:-
Personal Pronouns
Impersonal Pronouns
Reflexive and Emphatic Pronouns
Demonstrative Pronouns
Indefinite Pronouns
Distributive Pronouns
Relative Pronouns
Interrogative Pronouns
Personal Pronouns (व्यक्तिवाचक सर्वनाम)
Words like I, me, mine, we, you, he, she, it, they, etc. - that directly represent some person or thing are Personal Pronouns.
These are classified into 3 groups:-
First Person प्रथम व्यक्ति
I and we are the pronouns in this group. The pronouns in this group refer to self - the person who is making this sentence.
I am a boy.
We are girls.
Second Person द्वितीय व्यक्ति
You is the pronoun in this group. This refers to the person who is being talked to in the sentence.
You are young.
Third Person अन्य व्यक्ति
The pronouns in this category are used to refer
to the third person or thing who is being discussed.
He, she, it and they are personal pronouns in this category.
He is a boy.
She is a girl.
It is a book.
They are children.
Impersonal Pronoun
The Pronoun which describes or stands for a thing or verb or any nonliving thing but not for a person is the impersonal Pronoun.
Sometimes we use 'it' in case of undetermined gender, like for an insect or animal.
For Example:-
It is a tasty Juice.
Here it denotes juice (a beverage item).
Reflexive Pronoun
Pronouns are called reflexive pronouns when the action of the verb turns back on the subject.
Reflexive pronouns are usually objects of the verb.
For Example:-
You accidentally cut yourself last Monday.
Arpita read to herself in themorning.
Emphatic Pronoun
When reflexive pronouns are used to emphasize the noun, they are called emphatic pronouns.
For Example:-
He himself informed me.
We ourselves eat it.
Demonstrative Pronouns
Words like - this, that - when used as pronouns to indicate the objects that they describe, are recognized as demonstrative pronouns.
For Example:-
1.This is my car.
2.That is your car.
These and those are the plural forms of this and that respectively. Both are used as demonstratives pronouns where applicable.
This is used to indicate a nearby and a known object, whereas that for a distant and unknown
or strange object.
For Example:-
1.These are my Pillows.
2.Those are your flowers.
3.This is where I play.
4.That is the Taj Mahal.
Indefinite Pronoun
Sometimes the pronouns used in a sentence do not refer to any particular object or person.
They are used in a general way. Such pronouns are known as indefinite pronouns.
The most common ones are all, any, anyone, anything, each, everybody, everyone, everything,
few, many, nobody, none, one, several, some, somebody, and someone.
Like all pronouns, an indefinite pronoun is a substitute for a noun or a noun phrase.
For Example :-
One must always be sensitive.
Some of his stories are very nice.
